Information for Scholarship Applicants (students)

All applicants are asked to pick a recommender – an adult that knows the student well and that can write a letter of recommendation on the student's behalf. This person can be a teacher, a coach, an employer, etc., but they CANNOT be a member of the student's family.

To help your recommender with writing your letter, please consider providing them with your:

  1. CV/resume

  2. Class schedule/transcript

  3. Scholarship application questions

  4. Deadline for the letter (either Friday, October 27th for full scholarship or Monday, November 20th for partial scholarship)

Information for Recommendation Letter Writers

In a letter that is 1 page or less in length, please address the following questions:

  • Please consider the relationship you have with the student (ex: teacher/student, coach/player, mentor/mentee) and how long you have known this student.

  • In other words, what makes this student special? Please share any stories or anecdotes that displays the student’s personal qualities.

  • Please include information about student’s performance and financial need. Additionally, please indicate which scholarship the student is applying for.

  • Please be honest regarding the student’s financial situation.


How To Submit the Recommendation Letter

For scholarship applicants, please remind your recommendation letter writer to submit their letter BEFORE the deadline of the scholarship that you are applying.

For recommendation letter writers, please submit your recommendation letter to vicepresident@hmcasia.org. Accepted forms of letter include: PDF and Word Document.
